Why Oysters?

"I wanted to paint still life; and I chose the oyster for many reasons; our region has some of the best in the world, they're sexy, delicious - and an acquired taste for an Ohio girl like me - but mostly because it is an age old subject of painting. I wanted to follow that tradition in my own way."
